Delilah’s Dreary Diary

Delilah caught her husband with the Pastor’s wife after coming home early from work, cringe right? Taking their life savings with her she flees to Chicago for a makeover before jetsetting off to an exotic new place.

While this book was enjoyable, it was kind of unbelievable in parts and a little bit too ‘dull’. I enjoyed some parts of the story, like Luca and her makeover with Jose and George, but the rest of it was a little bit slow and predictable.

The first thing I found a bit of a pi**take was that she wasn’t at all upset by the fact that her husband has been sleeping around town, even her own sister. Yeah she left him and cried a bit but then she kind of got over it after 1 day and started to explore in chicago.

The second was that although it’s very possible to make friends in 1 day and feel like you are best friends, she only knew Jose and George for what? 8 hours? and she was going to trust them in all of her life choices?

Finally was the fact that she met Luca in the morning and by the afternoon was sleeping with him and planning to go meet the ‘rents. Yeah, she leaves him because she realises she’s nuts but still, the thought was still there in the first place.

It’s not all doom and gloom though. I did enjoy her character and the way she thought about things. I think she’s a good character for a series because there are so many things she can progress on and that’s important for novels where there are more to come because having a perfect character to start is boring!

In all honesty, this wasn’t a bad book but it wasn’t a particularly good either. It was kind of ‘meh’ with a pinch of ‘ooh’ thrown in.

Overall score: 5/10
